ABOUT US
In the rural southern part of South Carolina lies a small community named Big Dam between Andrews and Hemingway. Growing up in this area, men not only work but are cooks and grill masters. Growing up with a heritage from East Saint Louis, Missouri, traditional sweet BBQ flavor was always close by. Here in the lowcountry, the taste is different. In the backwoods swamp areas of the lowcountry, the taste of the sauce was a vinegar base engrained with spices and a sweet flavor. After cooking whole hogs from 11-12 hrs, that final 30 – 45 minutes, my uncles would dress the BBQ pork with the traditional vinegar base. As a young gent, helping was not always possible so watching was always fascinating because I knew that grilling was a rite of passage for a young man in the lowcountry.
As I ventured on to college learning to cook was apart of surviving that eventually led me to a passion for grilling, and then grilling ultimately led me to Country Que Sauce. In 2019, I took it upon myself to begin sharing the love of Country Que Sauce with not just my family, but my community near and far. The reality was that the sauce was not meant to steal the show, but hearing statements such as "Oh yeah that's it right here" was the seal of approval for Country Que Sauce. In honor of keeping hometown traditions, reflecting on the past, and remembering the legacy, while spreading love through food is all bottled into Country Que Sauce. Each flavor embraces this sentiment while embodying my South Carolina roots and traditions. Country Que Sauce is a tale of flavors from the Upstate, to the Midlands, and most of all, the Lowcountry. It is our pleasure to expand the taste and offer a twist to your native flavors.
